In the name of the God of Iran
The oldest country in the world. A land that, during the Achaemenid Empire, encompassed two-thirds of the known world. A nation that, through the wisdom of Cyrus the Great, stood as a defender of the oppressed and a destroyer of tyranny. A land that has never initiated war, only defended itself with honor.
While other nations lacked sewage systems and in some Arab lands daughters were buried alive before the rise of Islam, Iran had already written the first Charter of Human Rights. The earliest known eye surgery was performed in the Burnt City of Iran over 4,000 years ago.
Iran has given the world the greatest number of scientists—contributing everything from the invention of mathematical algorithms, to calculating the Earth’s radius, to the discovery of alcohol. From the richness of Persian literature to the architectural marvels of Persepolis, Iran’s legacy runs deep.
