Investigating setting up a Google account for my 9yo. It turns out Google allows children hitting 13 to independently remove parental supervision from their accounts. Does anybody else find this bizarre? I'm not opposed it happening, but surely it should be my call as a parent what is allowed in my home and when it's allowed, not Big Tech?

Yeah they should not be allowed to remove control until at least 16 imo.

Agreed! We eventually got our kids these “dumb” phones that allows us to control what apps are downloaded and how long they are on those apps. It will also send you notifications when certain things happen. Letting your kids out into the the world wide wild web is like letting your two year old swim in the deep end without supervision. They will eventually be exposed to content they are not ready for, plus kids don’t have self control yet.
