Paid delegate programs can buy time, context, and a visible record of governance work.
What they do not automatically create is representation: a constituency, real decision rights, or influence that survives the funding.
Before committing to a role, I think the useful question is: if it ended in six months, what would still be yours?
A public body of work? Trusted relationships? Specialist expertise? A credible mandate? Or mainly a title and a stipend?
I wrote a DAO Work decision brief that separates paid participation, formal voting influence, informal influence, and durable leverage—plus a practical role screen for evaluating a delegate program before committing to one.
