Ah yes, I remember waiting for it to roll around to the right page! Now things are better, we wait for 5 minutes for Cloudflare to let us in

Words of UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher: "I've been to Ukraine, Kabul, Kunduz, Darfur, Syria, and more. Nothing comes close to what's happening in Gaza. The smell and sound of death stay with you." It's eerily similar to the words you hear from concentration camp survivors. I can't believe the world let this happen in 2020s. Gaza was an open air prison for decades but it's now a mass grave.

Back in 2007 I found myself working in Zurich, which I did not enjoy much, except that it was easy to buy tickets for concerts at the Tonhalle, 1 or 2 days ahead. That is how I came to see Argerich perform this concerto. It was a revelation and I consider myself very lucky

On 13 February 2025, 109 civil society organizations, companies, and cybersecurity experts, including Global Encryption Coalition members, published a joint letter to the British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper calling on the UK Home Office to rescind its demand that Apple create a backdoor into its end-to-end encrypted services. The letter remains open until 20 February for additional signatories, please join Quilibrium, Tor, Zcash, Filecoin, and many others in taking a stand against this assault on our right to use cryptography. https://www.globalencryption.org/2025/02/joint-letter-on-the-uk-governments-use-of-investigatory-powers-act-to-attack-end-to-end-encryption/#dbd1ccb2-bd78-49eb-b262-b41b0bf71c72-link

My parents used to talk about those smogs. The council house I grew up in (in Walthamstow) was heated by coal fires. We had to use coke (smokeless coal) because of the Clean Air Act, introduced in 1956 to prevent the smog. Didn't live in a house with central heating until I was 16.

Changing an established system from within is very hard. Some have achieved it, not many. But it is good experience to work within it for a while, to learn how it operates. Then you have the knowledge you need to change it from the outside. Just an observation from too many years of activism and campaigning.

I always enjoy your articles. You are saying things that need to be said, and presenting well-constructed arguments. Ignoring them is not good for anyone’s bags.

Appalling. Makes me ashamed to be British, the way that Thatcher and Bojo did
