Apart from conflict of interest, what could be possible reason to vote ABSTAIN in below scenario? 1) in majority vote ie, only one candidate/proposal will be selected out of many 2) in quorum i.e., you assign preference to more than one candidate

1) Honestly can't think of a reason besides you just don't like the candidates. 2) Abstaining in this situation would have lesser negative consequences, at least compared to #1.
