This was a piece where the client estimated her entire upper back for the design, but when she arrived her vision of the “entire upper back” was between her shoulder blades and nothing beyond that. It can be easy to feel intimidated by a last minute change like this, explaining that things will have to be changed slightly in order to protect the longevity of the tattoo while still encouraging the client to speak up for their wants/ needs. I want to do the best I can for the tattoo, while also making sure they don’t feel trapped or intimidated to choose something they weren’t expecting. We had to simplify and change some things, but honestly I liked it so much more than I thought I would at that size, and it suits her even better than what I had originally designed. Sometimes “trust the process” applies to both the client and the artist, and I’m so glad we saw it through 🌵

Wow, it's awesome how the final design turned out even better than expected, proving that trusting the process can lead to amazing surprises
