In “Whip Out the Paints and Get To It”, the models are depicted as they were posed when Rockwell took his original photographs. He directed how to stand, the placement of hands and arms, and which facial expressions to make. He painted directly from images he took. These archived photos are just a few of thousands I researched at Norman Rockwell Museum while making the piece.
