Last week in part one of this series we examined what we believe could be one of the most important shifts in DeFi, intent-centric protocols. Intent-centric protocols have the potential to make using blockchains much simpler: instead of figuring out every step of a transaction, you just say what you want to happen, and the system takes care of the rest. But there’s still a missing piece. While these systems are good at understanding what you want, they don’t handle when it should happen. Right now, that timing is usually managed by external bots and services, which can be unreliable or require trust. This is where Reactive Contracts come in. They allow smart contracts to automatically watch for changes on the blockchain and act when the right conditions are met, without needing outside help.
