When cinephiles talk about examples of strong female characters in movies, the usual examples are always the classics. Ripley, Sarah, Clarice, Furiosa. But one important character is almost never mentioned. Yes. Catherine Trammel aka Sharon Stone. And yes, while my teenage self was fascinated with the character and the scene for obvious reasons (to the horror of my parents and parents around the world), she is a great example of a strong female character. Sharon Stone is no fool. She did not gun for the part bcs she had the opportunity to show her you know what to the world. She did it bcs she knew what kind of badass character was written in that script.
