Light pens from late 60s. It only worked on CRT displays thanks to their property (limitation?) of rendering one pixel at that time. Signal from the pen and display were synchronized by a computer and thus its physical location was derived

the magic of light pens, always been fascinated - bought one for my Sinclair ZX Spectrum back in the days. would work on TV. you could not really draw, but you could select points on the screen which would then connect. still find pens are the way to interface, for years using Wacom pen and pad and of course Apple pen. no mouses for me !

We’ve came a long way with pens. I cannot use pen for anything more than drawing. It’s either mouse or fingers for me with strong preference to mouse :)
