Coinbase disclosed that personal data of 69,461 customers was stolen in December 2024, according to a filing with the Maine attorney general's office. This is in reference to the Coinbase data breach attackers who demanded a $20 million bounty last week.

Tether is about to launch a new AI platform, integrating Bitcoin and USDT payments, allowing users to pay directly with Bitcoin and USDT via a peer-to-peer (P2P) network without intermediaries. Thanks to the open-source WDK toolkit, users manage their own wallet keys, without having to send their funds to a third party for safekeeping. This AI platform is completely open-source, runs on multiple devices, and does not rely on a centralized server.

🇺🇸 Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve bill after it passed both the House and Senate, citing Bitcoin as an “unproven investment.” However, this reason may be just an excuse, because Ms. Hobbs has previously pledged to veto any bill until the budget issue for supporting people with disabilities is resolved. A related bill that would allow the state treasurer to allocate up to 10% of Arizona's reserve fund to digital assets like Bitcoin is also under consideration in committee, but has yet to be formally approved.

In the first quarter of 2025, Tether earned more than $1 billion, largely thanks to interest from US government bonds. This profit is lower than the $6 billion in the previous quarter, when Tether benefited greatly from Bitcoin and gold. Tether holds nearly $120 billion in US government bonds, an all-time high. That leaves a surplus of $5.6 billion to back USDT.
