In the first quarter of 2025, Tether earned more than $1 billion, largely thanks to interest from US government bonds. This profit is lower than the $6 billion in the previous quarter, when Tether benefited greatly from Bitcoin and gold. Tether holds nearly $120 billion in US government bonds, an all-time high. That leaves a surplus of $5.6 billion to back USDT.
