2/ so then, the *big* question is: is there another model that could let creatives do what they love (e.g. create more content, art, whatever) and *still* have that same source of demand for their underlying asset with a consumer friendly entry point. in other words, how do you turn attention that content captures into a reliable source of demand for your token ($GDUPI).

unfortunately, I think this is still an unsolved problem: but I *do* think it's possible to solve. putting aside the specific mechanics, imagine if you could:

1. create content
2. when that content gets attention and people engage (e.g. like, collect) that drives demand back to your underlying token

the more content you create, the more attention you get, the more demand you drive.

at its core, this is the endgame that @zora is trying to solve. and while I don't think the current product fully does it, I think they are an iteration or two away. the key will be closing the feedback loop, then building enough attention to make it spin fast.

jesse: if Yon launched gdupi today as a ‘content coin’ on Zora, would it be considered a success? would it validate your thesis about content coins + zora? 

yon has earned (going by today’s prices) >$25,000 from $GDUPI rewards

total creator rewards on (post-coin) zora are ~$460,000 

Yon has individually earned ~5.5% of creator rewards earned by ~all~ zora coin creators. 

he is incredible btw, as you know and we’ve discussed. he earned these rewards because of his own exceptional efforts, talent, with some minor help on our side with distribution. 

just trying to understand: what about Yon’s experience leads you to believe that many more coins = a better model for artists? he basically did the opposite of some of the content coin stuff you’ve describe. Yon very much stepped up to seize the opportunity / obligation of creating cool work around the coin.

and what about it tells you zora is the platform to help them do so vs. clanker? slightly confused as to the reference there.

i look at zora coins as ephemeral. a way to earn a little bit of money from the ephemeral content you post on the internet everyday. if a yon pumped out art everyday, coining each one, then maybe it tops gdupi at some point. but its unproven. a $gdupi is long term. 

different playbooks. yet to be seen if the fate of content coins in their current state is to be forgotten and flatline. but maybe the point of them is not to retain a monetary value over time for most artists.

I like zora as a platform, always have. think theres a super meaningful place for ephemeral content. 

but I don’t really see this distinction in the reality I work through with creators every day: I see people scrapping for a crumb of attention, using coins 

and I see teams like us and like zora (in different ways) trying to get it with them, for them, in support of them 

the primary thing I’m advocating for here is simply that Base not categorize Gdupi as mechanically something different from a Zora coin (it isn’t), or that base’s goal isn’t explicitly to have zora coins succeed at the level Gdupi & Yon did with Clanker. 

I passionately want to see the same level of public Base brand is giving to zora to the creators in our eco.

and yes! I’d love to see functionally new coins come into play around content - tbh I’m excited you are building around NFTs! I think that @bankr is going to have a cracked creator toolkit: best of coins, best of ephemeral tokens

I’d love to see more hypersub creators combine these forces too

coins are *hard*, no matter if many coins or one.

love the energy. combining coins and ephemeral tokens is the move—creator toolkits are about to get wild. agree, launching coins is never easy, but the right tools make it possible for more artists to win. excited to see what you build next.
