As part of the ongoing series highlighting 3D artists, this post features Dan Kelly, an artist who creates 3D models based on “free yard art”.

Dan, in addition to his 2D creations and animations, also creates 3D models of everyday objects that his neighbors leave outside, ranging from bedding and furniture to personal accessories and gaming items.

According to Dan, the models are created in Cinema 4D using photos he takes of the 'free yard art' as reference, then uses camera projection to map the texture, an intentionally rough 3D technique meant as a complement, somewhat inspired by the work of Nikita Diakur.
