from time to time, I go back to thinking if I found my call too late in life. Communication, design, UX... most of my 9to5 career was built on those disciplines for the past 25 years. But I still remember considering filmmaking in the early 2000's when the dream of moving abroad was manifesting. The dream eventually did come true. However, to spent a year in Sweden for an art direction program. Fast forward to 2024, I found my first clients to execute video work. And the rest feels more distant, although I still take design projects. As I edit this project with a luthier, I struggle with the lack of experience, if I'm honest. How to start, which scenes to select, points to highlight, the story, short vs long format, or a mix of them, distribution etc Not sure where I'm going with this (and this cast), but despite the struggles, it also really fucking excites me. To challenge myself, to figure out and to, hopefully, build a project that makes me watch and be like "shit, I built that". We keep going.

i think not knowing what to do wrt creative decisions is something experienced creatives would also go through. so you feeling like you lack the exp/knowledge is just really a manifestation of wanting to create something you’re proud of and questioning the little decisions we make to make that happen.

yeah, good point. also because as a one-man-band, i also have to understand (or gently accept) that there's a general lack of balance between my current skills - i.e. comfortable shooting / finding angles, not there yet with editing and everything that comes with it. these are actually different professions so... reflecting out loud to see if it sticks in the mind :)
