Most people misunderstand job security. It’s not about staying in the same role indefinitely or making yourself indispensable. Real job security is the ability to land a new role—regardless of market conditions—and level up from where you were before.

Most people don't build the relationship to have the conversation with their boss to say, "I want to work on xyz because it's the most impactful to the business/team, but it's a selfish skill I want to take with me for my next role." You should always be aligning work with your own goals and/or market trends. A good *leader* will grow you to be a better version of yourself which often times means you'll out grow the role and the company - not keep you all to themselves because you make them look good on a spreadsheet. Remember that.
