so a few years back, I convinced my mom to leave our family home – the one we'd been in since the '70s. She moved into a smaller apartment near a retirement place. We thought we were doing the right thing, but honestly, neither of us realized how tough the transition would be. It's been a bigger adjustment than we expected.
