I've done this successfully... It should work so long as you use LUKS at the partition level rather than the whole disk level.

Ouch, yeah. My comment wasn't specifically about 24.04 as I haven't used it; just that I know it at least used to be possible.
Kind of sad to see this type of regression crop up, and... to see it get "wishlisted"??
