L2BEAT has the notion of "stages" for rollups. /walletbeat should have this concept too. Some thoughts as to what "stage 1️⃣" should mean for wallets below...

Current thinking: The meaning of "stage 1️⃣" should simultaneously: - Be a meaningful set of desirable improvements over the status quo for most wallets - Be achievable for most mature wallets in 2025 - Remain flexible, especially in the early days of /walletbeat, likely getting tighter over time (as it has for L2BEAT)

Guiding principle for definition: Stage 1️⃣ is a long-term commitment for a wallet to Ethereum principles. But it is also only a start. This means being 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙚, respecting 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙮 and 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝙨𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙩𝙮, being 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩, and implementing features critical to furthering the 𝙀𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢'𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨. These are the same 5 pillars that Walletbeat rates as attribute groups. Not a coincidence! Stage 1️⃣ therefore needs to include 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙛𝙪𝙡 features and commitments on all of these principles.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 1️⃣: - Security audit in the last year - Standardized key derivation - Support some hardware wallets - Something about account recovery - Verify L1 (via light client or own node) - Integrate 1 type of private token transfers - Can be configured w/ own Ethereum node for L1 - Free and Open-Source - Cross-chain bridging - Some EIP-7702-enabled features (batching etc.)

Too high of a bar? Too low of a bar? Too vague of a bar? Not the right direction to look for a bar in the first place? Sound off in the GitHub issue or below. https://github.com/walletbeat/walletbeat/issues/173
