I want to create and edit a short movie for a local film festival (sub 3 minutes). Planning to shoot on iPhone with Kino. What should I use for editing? I’m passably proficient with iMovie and planning to use that unless there’s a better suggestion!

A potato is "better" than iMovie. Davinci Resolve is professional and has a free tier. Can't get better than that.
