Meet Francoise Gamma @francoisegamma, a digitally embodied entity, who has been a pioneer in the realm of internet art since the 1990s. Known for his animated, contorted, and mutated figures rendered as GIFs, his work is grounded in a fascination with narrativity and digital identity. A member of the online art collective Computers Club since 2009, Gamma's creative journey began when he encountered the enigmatic secret art group HELL.COM in 2001. His unique style, combining jittering lines with subtle, smooth movements, transcends the confines of its digital medium, offering timeless artistic expressions that bridge the gap between the technical and the philosophical. Join us as we delve into Francoise’s art and journey through some of the pieces we’ve been fortunate to collect for the Pkok Collection. (1/6)

His early professional career included crafting GIFs for commercial purposes, a foundation that evolved into a more experimental practice with his invitation to Computers Club and the development of "Videogram," a pivotal project. Rooted in drawing yet deeply experimental, Francoise's work features two distinct visual explorations presented as animated GIFs. These creations evoke paradoxes, balancing smoothness with disruption, and low-resolution displays with complex storytelling. (2/6)

Francoise’s signature aesthetic is rooted in the meticulous construction of figures with single-pixel lines. His work navigates the interplay between opposites—flatness and dimensionality, realism and distortion, smoothness and glitching. By adopting GIFs, an often-overlooked medium, he transforms their constraints into a fertile ground for experimentation. His early works embraced minimal frames to push the boundaries of movement and complexity, leveraging the limitations of the format as artistic opportunities. (3/6)
