Yup! It's a great developer experience but will also lock you in. snippets.so is still using Next but the work it's going to take to refactor all of it to a more open stack is gonna suck.

My perspective of this: 99% of dev projects never see the light of day. This is why choosing a fast "0 to 1" platform like Django, Rails, NextJS reduces the chance of dropoff and helps you focus on shipping a product If you ever end up being in the lucky 1% - choosing the right stack is a privilege since you now have users (and 99% of people don't)

Totally agree, and perhaps a year ago I would have argued that next.js would have enabled that over other stacks, but I’m less convinced these days. In my experience using Vite + React and Hono is just as fast if not faster as I run into far fewer bugs compared to Next. It feels lightweight, portable, and totally capable for anything I build. You can still get the hosting DX of Vercel with Cloudflare with way less vendor lock-in.
