➼ Rewards leaderboard scores are weird (probably points being removed because people are marked as spam)

➼ Overall engagement is down/strange

➼ Much confusion and people feel down on themselves and are taking it personally. Don’t. It’s not you.

Your follower counts are going down because the spam algorithm is drunk or extra salty this week. 

When someone gets labeled as spammy, aka a “0” label, the Farcaster client no longer counts them in your follower count. They are still following you and you can see it on the protocol. 

Use this frame to see how many have been purged.

If you are in “show more replies” inside of a channel, you might not have a spam label. The channel might be set to prioritize members replies. 

If you comment on a naked cast aka one that’s not in a channel and you are in “show more replies” you probably have a spam label.

You should follow @mvr and @compez.eth who both update frames/mini apps with the data set as it goes live. 

@cryptonjal also does some fabulous analysis about spam labels

It’s confusing for sure. Many people are making that assumption when it’s truly a Farcaster display metric that changes often. The spam algorithm is really aggressive this week so it’s more noticeable.

I lost like 500 followers. I thought it was because of my casts about the war and all haha

Interesting observation. I still believe that Farcaster needs to be more newbie friendly (currently it's not due to the spam label system).

I generally don’t pay much attention to my follower count…🤷‍♂️
(I just never really have on any platform so it never became habit) 
I know I gained some over the last month or so, and think probably lost some over the last week, but it’s all good, what I pay attention to here is the quality interactions!!!🤠🤙

It felt like it at first, but you can buy bonus points. Anytime you can pay money to be higher in the rankings, it’s not tracking true influence but it’s now pay to play

What is @ inflynce? I found it's like kaito which is base on engagement reward. Right?

Without time-decay, early posts would stay on top indefinitely.

Multiplier steadily erodes each like, so you must keep earning fresh engagement to remain visible.

This also discourages one-off like buying or trading because burst spikes fade quickly. 

Spam flags further reduce scores. 

Scores still fall if the decay on older likes outweighs the value of new ones

Theory is it’s people getting marked as spam.

There's also decay on leaderboard points, so you see a higher score and then suddenly a lower one. It's a bucket with holes in the bottom
