Things I did not have on my bingo card this year: Falling in love with Chinese Dramas I quickly found the limits of shows on Netflix Japan that had English subtitles and a Chinese drama popped up. I watched it out of curiosity and now I’m OBSESSED. Many are set in ancient China and have: 1. FABULOUS costumes that are beautiful and visually stunning. There’s a lot of thought that goes into how they flow and whoever has the wind machine takes their job seriously 2. Amazing wigs. Long hair is THE style in both the historical and fantasy genre and damn the wigs are good. The pony tails look good. The long hair down looks good. The half up half down looks good. The hair pins are gorgeous. 3. Fun fight scenes. Some are cheesy. All are fun to watch. Think more Matrix than Witcher. Fantasy/magic stuff is pretty good but some of the series where fighting is a major plot point have outdone themselves. I’ve yet to come across a single show that’s dubbed which means it’s still early and it took me a while to find all the OST for the shows but I’m really glad I feel down this rabbit hole! The first show I watched was as called “Pursuit of Jade” and it was released in March 2026.
