Today is a good day to engage in Space Duolingo.
This KAJISULI update is a heavy rebalance of the game. It aims to even out all 4 stats in efficiency, speeds up the game, and smoothes the difficulty curve.
v5 details:
- draw a kanji challenge every 3 minutes for bonus XP.
- Luck is now used for perk damage calculation and firerate when applicable.
- boosted damage and boosted firerate are now used in place of base damage and firerate for perks.
- in practice, this means if a perk used "damage" before, it will use ("boostedDamage" + "Luck") / 2 now. Perks tend to do slightly more damage as a result, and may scale up slower or faster depending on build
- perks giving damage and firerate boosts have been nerfed across the board, to make up for these boosts being much more efficient
- enemy waves spawn at 7-11-14 minutes, instead of 8-14-20 minutes
- enemy waves scale up to +16 minutes, instead of +24 minutes (more enemies faster)
- added enemy spawns show up regularly if there's too few enemies on screen
