Jordan River, at the site known as Bethany Beyond the Jordan, located in today’s Jordan Valley near the border with Israel.
It is the place where John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ.

The site is called Qasr al-Yahud on the Israeli side, and Al-Maghtas (المغطس) on the Jordanian side — meaning “the baptism place.”
