The image shows an icon of Jesus Christ Pantocrator (Greek: Παντοκράτωρ – meaning “Almighty” or “Ruler of All”), one of the most revered and central depictions in Eastern Orthodox iconography. Description of the Icon Christ is depicted in the traditional Byzantine style — shown half-length, raising His right hand in a gesture of blessing while holding the Holy Gospel in His left hand, richly adorned with precious stones. On His halo are the Greek letters Ο Ω Ν (Ho ōn), meaning “The One Who Is,” a reference to God’s name revealed in Exodus 3:14 — “I AM WHO I AM.” Around the icon, written in Greek on the circular red border, is a verse from John 8:12: > “Εγώ ειμι το φως του κόσμου· ο ακολουθών εμοί ου μη περιπατήσει εν τη σκοτία, αλλ’ εξει το φως της ζωής.” > Translation: > I am the light of the world; whoever follows Me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.”
