This is why I tend to avoid bandwagon “charity” drives and give to causes DIRECTLY instead. Most donor drives, no matter how altruistic and necessary, are exploitable the moment those assets leave the donors’ hands. Even old shoe donations are exploitable (and some surplus sourcing companies offer kickbacks by weight.) Are you donating, or paying for a brand of virtue signaling into someone’s profits? https://wccftech.com/tiktok-user-donates-sneakers-with-hidden-airtag-at-red-cross-tracks-them-through-europe-finds-them-800km-away-in-a-thrift-shop-in-bosnia-buys-them-back-for-10-euros/amp/

Example of a good donation drive to give to instead? @crystalhearts You don’t need an AirTag or a NFT to know that front line support is provably being provided for Ukraine through their efforts for example. I’d rather donate supplies there than to a ARC/DRK bin that may end up in someone’s thrifting and consignment shop for another country!
