I think that's a bit unrealistic to say @farcaster is unruggable.

I would take nothing for Merkle to absorb Neynar, hardfork the network and run it on a private chain.

The migration to Snapchain was super smooth which shows migrations are not an issue to preserve most of the "value" of the network.

P.S.: I'm not saying that's what is going to happen.

I am unclear if independent snapchain nodes also have to pay to bypass the “Pro” limits.

It will be an onchain contract like storage. You can’t bypass the protocol smart contracts.
