What on earth... does this really mean I have almost forty bucks sitting somewhere in internet money land that I can transfer to other corners of internet money? I am perplexed

We've been thinking about this quite a bit and hoping to make some adjustments to how earnings are displayed on Paragraph. There are two ways writers earn through coins: 1) Transaction fees 2) Value of their coins increasing #1 is more straightforward, while #2 requires liquidity & a market around the coin for the writer to actually receive the funds. Based on the screenshot, this may be more #2 than #1, but curious what happens when you click "Withdraw"?

can you share some more of your thinking? I'm cool either way btw and not writing for money and really just enjoying messing around and that's part of the reason I'm on paragraph to enjoy the experimental third wave of the web with distributed systems, wonky new ownership stuff, mess around with AI and all that jazz long way of saying im here for it

More of our thinking around coins? Or something else in particular? We've written a bit about coins here: https://paragraph.com/@reidtandy We're looking for a way to help writers earn more than the current popular models, like paid subscriptions & sponsorships, or getting paid pennies from Medium, or being exploited by social platforms. I'm a big fan of Substack, Patreon, etc., and think paid subscriptions & sponsorships have significantly expanded the economy around creative work. But hoping we can find something that's even better, that brings on a new wave of funding for creative work. We're open-minded & agnostic on what to try: we've experimented w/ NFTs & other monetization features in the past, and currently working on coins. Let us know any feedback!

Tbh what feels sorta obvious is the need for some sort of blanket indie writer subscription on platform x and then layer on top various fun mechanics like being able to remix gated posts or something like all the cute access to chats and stuff that ppl do. This screenshot you cite is spot on. There needs to be a there there beyond "dont be a right clicker" or whatever the nft logic is these days.
