Great write up. Also, I didn’t know about `noindex`, so educational as well! This closely resembles my experience. I had played around with Claude and windsurf making a few prototypes and ideas, and always saw the same bloat you did. One seemingly “simple” change breaks everything. I initially planned to skip that whole thing for another project I was building and instead wanted to bring on an engineering co-founder. But that didn’t work out, and I re-took the plunge. Only this time I spent a LOT more time in the planning stages. Combining that with the recent LLM and Claude Code improvements, my results have been getting better and better. Still has the odd LLM-fart though. And like you say, having even a bit of experience here is of inestimable value. It’s the difference between rephrasing the solution prompt 50 times or 10 times to get the one that makes the thing understand.
