If you like hole in the wall what-is-this-place experiences, go to Fish Market on South St. It's run by two friends and started as a dive bar. One of their moms is Malaysian and she'd cook for the staff. Then customers started wanting in, so they serve her cooking on the menu. So yummy and great, weird vibes.

I can’t imagine a time when the subway stations were safe… a guy started threatening to throw hands at someone sitting next to me today. Maybe a normal occurrence here haha

I loved it.

But I lived there during the ZIRP era. Startups everywhere, high optimism, peak WeWork, cheapest Uber rides of my life, subways felt safe.

My husband and I briefly moved back for a quarter last year. I still love the city, but it felt really different and less safe than I remembered.

Omg a fish market sounds awesome! I’ll definitely try to stop by before I leave :)
