Just noticed that Thingtesting got acquired by ShopMy earlier this year Probably a soft landing for TT since they slowed down a lot but I’ve been a fan of both Bullish on ShopMy, they’re crushing it right now, great example of a startup targeting the high-spending female consumer segment that most men are unaware of altogether https://x.com/gyllanderjenny/status/1950659697666892045?s=46

Thingtesting was only on my radar because my friend worked there, but otherwise I never came across any users in the wild. Were you a reviewer? Curious what drew you to it. Affiliate marketing is such a natural extension of the “creator economy.” I’m always surprised when YouTube creators aren’t listing every single item (down to their camera equipment) because everything they do is organic marketing for someone else. I also think it’s smart ShopMy has no follower minimums. I personally find I’m more likely to believe micro creators for honest product reviews over the very big, sponsored creators.

I just remember finding it when it launched and enjoyed reading their reviews, similar to Wirecutter Agreed, affiliate is still massively underrated but growing quickly and it seems ShopMy is poised to win big there One of my girlfriend’s friends isn’t an influencer but has good taste and literally links everything constantly on her Instagram stories (3k followers) and makes a couple hundred bucks a month doing it (which of course drives her to link even more)
