This month’s life lessons from my twig, who now resides at /thenextwave. 1. Look within during rapid growth. You may be thriving on the surface but tangled underneath. 2. If your surroundings don’t support your growth, it’s time to move. 3. Be gentle with change, however necessary. Transplant shock is real.

I’m curious - to the extent you’re comfortable sharing - what resonated most.

1 and 3, mostly transplant shock. I left my home of 14 years recently to move to another continent for work. What seemed like a short stint has now become far more indefinite. The move has been amazing for my career which ironically was something I turned down multiple times in the past coz I chose to stay for personal reasons. Now it feels like I’m starting over completely in every sense. I live in one of the best cities (atleast I think so, have a tendency to romanticise everything, my username starts with a city, that should say something), but underneath I’m either craving the life I left behind or constantly distracting myself from those thoughts. I’ve lost my support system, I know I’ll rebuild, this in-between phase doesn’t feel good. Some days I wonder if I made a mistake. Sorry for the longish word vomit.

Appreciate you sharing this and admire your courage to change your surroundings. 🀍 I’m sure many people here would relate to your situation as these days immigration is often the way to get better opportunities for work.
