I like hearing how people talk about new technology. They are limited to using metaphors to what already exists to them. The more we invent, the more possibilities explode from existing nodes of knowledge.

I just got a Mitsubishi CS-1982 television and a Macintosh SE computer for the new space. Both designed and sold to consumers before I was born, but I’m trying to be a good steward of their history.

It was a highlight of my week chatting with their owners, Nick and Dinesh, and hearing their personal memories of when these machines were cutting-edge.

I’m thinking about ways to better collect such stories. For now, they’re in my private voice notes.
