Agreed - it was a big day for us at @tigfoundation (it's on @base ) on Monday, as our founder & chief scientist was the the UK Parliament talking about open-source AI and IP. He emphasized something crucial for national capability: AI that builds better AI (calling it an 'engine of algorithmic invention'). The main point was that foundational AI needs to stay open and decentralized, not controlled by just one entity.
