Pretty funny to me how doing swaps onchain has actually gotten more expensive over time.

Take aside gas fees and the cost to process the transaction on the network - every front-end and wallet now had an added swap fee too.

Just swapped 500 USDC to USDT to pay a vendor and had to pay a $5 fee to make the swap on Uniswap, Phantom, Relay anywhere really.

I'm sure there's an app to go 1:1 on stablecoins but takes time and would almost rather eat the $5 fee

Interesting to observe we're in a phase where businesses thrive off of convenience

yeah the "convenient" ones like in-wallet swaps or bridges usually have horrible spread and added fees, would not recommend using any of those. 

If you look long enough you can often find way better rates via aggregators, intent based swaps or specialized pools but it's definitely an advanced topic that not everyone can handle. 

We are in an age of middlemen taking their cut, even onchain.
