I’m trying to follow/engage with people who  who aren’t a part of the typical microcosm of Farcaster users I usually interact with.

I’ve noticed that the suggestions from FC on who to follow don’t include a diverse enough range of users. Typically they are within the same “circle” as you or have interacted with you recently. 

To make more unique connections I’ve been using the leaderboard, various dune dashboards, and influential profile’s “following” section to discover/follow new accounts instead of finding them thru the suggestion algorithm.

I’ve noticed the same thing, the suggested follows tend to keep you in the same social bubble. Helpful, but limiting.
