GM from out east. I’ve spent the last few days exploring California’s Gold Rush towns - one of my favorite inflection points in U.S. history. Empire Mine was one of the richest hard rock gold mines. Now it’s on a 800+ acre state park with peaceful forests and old industrial equipment you can just roam around.

Thanks - same here. There weren’t as many trees back in the mining days because they burned them for fuel. Now an occasional tree will fall down and wreck the man-made historic structures, which they must then rebuild. A funny balance now with “preservation” in this park.
