Memecoins on Base are a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they’re clearly helping drive adoption—bringing in new users, boosting activity, and creating viral communities. For a growing L2 like Base, that attention is valuable.

On the other hand, much of it is short-term speculation. Many tokens have no real utility, and rug pulls are common. If the ecosystem gets too meme-heavy without serious development, it could hurt long-term credibility.
