Today, the community celebrates Bitcoin Pizza Day.

On May 22, 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz bought two Papa John’s pizzas for 10,000 BTC. Each year, the value of those “pizzas” increases, which is why the community created its own holiday.

Fittingly, this year it coincides with Bitcoin reaching a new all-time high above $111,000. That means the pizzas are now worth over $1.1 billion.
