Step 2 🎨 Texturing the Seashell!
I textured the seashell using 3 smart materials and a few subtle tricks in Substance Painter to achieve just the look I wanted.
I started with a base smart material from the Substance asset library, tweaked it with a soft blue tone, and adjusted the metallic values for a natural shine.
Instead of using generators, I hand-painted orange accents along the edges to keep the gradient feeling more organic and abstract.
Then, I added a darker brown layer to deepen the outer edges and played with blend modes to bring it all together. The result? A beautifully textured seashell that shines inside Blender.
🎯Sometimes, it’s all about the small tricks and how you apply them.
I shared the retopology process in Step 01—check that out too if you missed it! https://lnkd.in/dcXMhjTm
