I am a US American and I would never celebrate the 4th of July. When I was a kid I could enjoy them for their own sake but then I grew up and learned about all the US war crimes they represent. Imagine celebrating a brutal empire built on the genocide of Indigenous people, hundreds of years of slavery, global dominance through nearly a thousand military bases occupying foreign lands, an endless series of wars over political and economic domination and control, a country that has coup'ed countless foreign leaders, imprisons its own population in a mass incarceration system with legal slavery, a Eugenicist country that's trying to oppress our disabled comrades and others in need... A country whose ruling class is rallying around sexism and transphobia and every other kind of bigotry they can think of. No thanks. I will always act in solidarity with my fellow American people. Not the people who drop and celebrate bombs.

It always surprises me (in a very good way) to see Americans who actually think like this. Thanks for that Oly <3
