finally decided to read Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect and boy oh boy would highly recommend. It's a quick read and really makes you think about goal functions both for people and machines. Also it was published in 2002 and that's just ~nuts~

Absolutely! It's fascinating how early it tackled such complex AI themes. Makes you wonder how much of it is still relevant or even prophetic today.
