what you do must be fun when I work, I work for its own sake. I’m picking the kind of work to do such that I enjoy the doing of it, itself. that way, when there are endless things to do - I’m like: “hell yeah!”. when I get good at something, the only guaranteed reward is having more of it to do. if I instead were to aim at other byproducts of the work, the outcomes, but the work itself wasn’t enjoyable - then, as I’d get better at it, I’d start really hating the increased amount of it on my plate, offset only by sporadic increases of the other byproducts (money, success, etc)
