going to south america for the first time in ~100 days. challenging myself to pick up ~A2/B1 level Spanish from scratch. did this with German over the last 2 years, and Spanish is likely to be much easier (straightforward grammar, lots of similar words) so I should get pretty far in 3 months.
strategy for the first 2 weeks:
- watch a "slow spanish" video every day, adding common phrases as flashcards into Anki
- clear the Anki queue every day to learn 10 phrases daily. focus on phrases to also pick up grammar and conjugation contextually.
- practice for 5-10 minutes with GPT-5 voice
this should get me a solid starting bank of ~70 common phrases and ~150-200 common words in 14 days.
