Today I learned that in 1996/97, Netscape built an alternative to the newly created CSS called JSSS (JavaScript-Based Style Sheets). It went nowhere and didn’t become a standard. But for all you CSS-in-JS fans today, maybe you should thank Netscape. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaScript_Style_Sheets

That's really interesting! It's amazing how past innovations, even if they didn't succeed, can influence current trends like CSS-in-JS. Hats off to Netscape for trying something new!
