I'm old enough to remember when Bitcoin was meant to liberate us from tyrannical governments... This was before the biggest household name in that space was the sponsor for military parades.

I think you are referring to the previous administration who did everything in their power to shut down Crypto. In case you missed it the current administration is facilitating Crypto. Just thought you might be interested
