Who Should Build Farcaster Events: Several replies mention great current and past Events oriented Mini Apps and Frames. However I believe that only Merkle can create the killer Events experience. 1. Events will be substantially more successful if deeply integrated into the Farcaster app, like Verified Accounts, Wallet, and soon Video. 2. Events would benefit from first class notifications and location permissions unavailable to Mini Apps (with good reason) 3. Adoption will require the distribution push only Merkle is financially capable of providing. 4. Events could be a good opportunity for Merkle to build a first-class first-party viral Mini App — even if it benefits from a handful of features unavailable to other Mini Apps. Farcaster app demonstrates the product led protocol thesis. By the same logic, the Mini App standard would benefit from a premiere first-party Mini App. 5. Events are difficult to monetize and impossible to make viable at Faarcaster’s current scale. Merkle can shoulder the cost because they need FC to grow and be retentive most of all. 6. Events are a wedge to convert the rest of CT to install the app and keep it on their phone, ideally with notifications on. The social context of IRL meetups constitute a multiple-times per year global call to action to reopen the app, creating a new opportunity to reengage churned users for cheap, without the cost of sponsoring or hosting IRL events itself. Very high leverage relative to the substantial spend many crypto outfits put into IRL events. With FC Events FC surfs everyone *else’s* irl spend at the relatively low cost of implementing the feature and popularizing it.
