No, there’s are substantial differences in UX, notifs, and location whether it’s fc that does it as a first party client feature vs a mini app. Simplest examples are mini apps don’t have lock screen level notifs, nor a dedicated tab in the app, nor deep mini app results in fc search. There will need to be a EthCC page in the app that you can find via search and that pops up if you change your location to Cannes, etc.
Events as a mini app will not succeed because it is not a venture scale business on its own. The purpose of events is to create a network effect around the core protocol, like fb did with their events product.
The initial development should allow it to be a superset of luma, partiful, eventbrite, and proprietary registration — a social layer on top — because no event organizer wants to restrict attendance to farcasters only.
A later version could add full event creation and management in the app, but frankly owning that logic is a convenience and not a necessity for fc’s goals. It should replace proprietary side event spreadsheets. 1 reply
